Challenge

Sal Khan, the founder of Khan Academy, in a speech at his alma mater, MIT, brought up the notion of luck in part referring to overcoming the academic paywall for institutions like MIT. For many, the prospect of a meaningful degree is a choice between incurring a hefty financial burden, attempting to obtain a one in a million scholarship, or to just not even bother.

One of the most significant bars to quality education has been, historically, cost. As an aside, we are developing our own educational software and systems in an effort to solve this issue (and many others) from the ground up. We will continue to run this scholarship campaign until our own educational software systems are complete, at which point scholarships will not be necessary any more.

Objective

This campaign supports a scholarship program for college, university, and trade school students who are participating in STEM degrees, as well as the Arts. Candidates for these scholarships may apply through this link.

From the list of applicants for each round of scholarships (once per semester), recipients shall be selected by an internal review board. We consider an array of factors such as academic history, academic progress, extracurricular activities, research history, and long-term goals.

Summary

We hope to actively enable and encourage students, who otherwise may not have such an opportunity, to pursue their academic passions with confidence and vigor. Our hope is to reward academic excellence and visions of a beautiful, pro-human future. We stand firmly behind the notion that art inspires science, and as such the arts are held in very high esteem.

The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next.– ABRAHAM LINCOLN

Recipients of the scholarship can expect to receive an award amount of $5,000 from our organization. The number of recipients, per semester, will vary depending on funds raised by this campaign. Any overflow funds shall be applied in full to the next semester’s award fund.
