Challenge

With a game like this, the most challenging part will definitively be the physics engine powering it. The underlying premise of this game will involve crafting a functional space-faring vessel from various independent parts, then using the vessel to explore the in-game universe. The physics of our artificial universe will closely match real physics, to the point where the game should support research-grade simulations.

This project has a dual purpose: Above all, it is a game that is meant to entertain, inspire, and educate. The game aspect of this will take priority in nearly every decision we make. It should be fun. Additionally, it is to serve as the foundation for a real-world simulation environment to support our intended direction of growth. The [dephoro] Network has an open and direct interest in making life multiplanetary, as well as developing the systems to make such a venture possible.

Objective

We are creating an adventure-style engineering game, using games like EVE Online and Kerbal Space Program as inspiration. This project plays into our talents several times over, from the utilization of Unreal Engine to a collective background in various regimes of the space sciences.

As with most game development projects, the list of needs is long and the time required for development is extensive. Funding, in short, would cover assets, animations, academic talent, and server fees (see our expenditure reports).

Summary

The feeling of discovery, as documented by our species over long spans of time, is unforgettable and life changing. The feeling of discovery is so empowering that it can entirely alter the course of one’s life. This is especially true when it happens at a young age, when genuine curiosity thrives.

Equipped with his five senses, man explores the universe around him and calls the adventure Science.– EDWIN POWELL HUBBLE

Our goal is to capture feelings like this and deliver them, in a thrillingly entertaining manner, to our supporters. A game such as this presents a lovely balance between science, creativity, curiosity, and reward. The game’s dependence on realistic physics systems reinforces (and to some degree teaches), in a tangible interactive way, the intuition and theory behind how our universe works.
